Villamaría's new drying space

Villamaría, the second of the Red Associations in Colombia is developing rapidly. Not far from El Fénix our community wet mill and farm, a space for the drying station and QC hub was found in Jamaica, Chinchiná.

The space in Jamaica is now underway to becoming our second fully fledged community hub. As construction work continues on the building, the space is already being used to explore the potential of a 200kg dehydrator used for the drying of honey and natural coffees from the local producers.

Red Villamaría currently represents 30 coffee producing families in the surrounding area of Jamaica, sitting at altitudes higher than the drying station itself. As the site is at a lower altitude, it is better suited to the processing of honey and natural coffees due to the hotter temperatures.
