Plant to Port

Understanding the Value Stream of Coffee Production
Next Course Dates:
Spring 2025

Overview

At Raw Material, we are positioned between two very different sides of the coffee industry; production and roasting.

Plant to Port is a course that will bring you to the areas that are often out of reach for you; the various stages of green coffee production, pre-export, and in the producing country itself.

The course provides attendees with an insight into the world of green coffee production, and leaves them with a broad and experiential understanding of coffee from in-depth agronomy, all the way to exportation.

Whether you’re wanting to level up your own understanding of the supply chain within a producing country, or to increase the knowledge of your team, this is the course for you.

The course is hosted in both English and Spanish.

Key Information

  • The next iteration of Plant to Port will be hosted Spring 2025.

How is the course price calculated and paid for?

The course prince includes all food, drink, accommodation, domestic travel, and the course itself.

Plant to Port is an intensive, educational course open to people at every step of the coffee value chain. Although our largest audience is within the roasting sector, we want to prioritise access to individuals in producing countries who cannot afford to attend.

There are ten spots available at every Plant to Port, three of which are reserved for attendees from coffee producing countries. Your attendance alongside the six other paying attendees will fully fund the attendance of coffee producers who will massively benefit from what the course will offer.

To reserve your spot, please fill out to confirm that you would like to purchase your place. We will then send you an invoice for 500 GBP. The remaining amount of 1000 GBP, will be invoiced one month before the trip.

Testimonials

An extraordinary time in Quindío with Plant to Port. The content, facilities, facilitators and the immersion into all things coffee was highly valued.

I learned as much again from the group I spent this amazing opportunity with. Thank you guys for organising our deep dive into the world of Raw Material in Colombia. It’s set a benchmark for future trips to origin.
— Brian O'Briain, Burren Coffee
Over the years I’ve taken part in a number of courses and events: SCA green and sensory, CRG Sensory Summit, Roaster Guilds, Coffee Sensorium courses, Lucia Solis’s fermentation camp and some Coffee Knowledgehub courses.

In addition I’ve been on a number of origin trips and most recently completed the ZHAW post-grad certificate in Coffee Excellence. I know I’m still on a high having only just landed back in the ‘real world’ but I can honestly say that this one-week immersive and structured course surpassed all those things that came before, by far.

I feel incredibly privileged to have been able to attend Plant to Port and share the experience with such an incredible group of people.
— Dave Stanton, Crankhouse Coffee Roasters
I would like to thank Miguel for being an incredible host and fount of knowledge. With his relaxed and humble approach he made The Plant To Port course so accessible and easy to digest.
— Philip Chick, White Star Coffee Roasters
The origin trip that is so much more... The amount of knowledge gained on Plant to Port is immense. It takes a while to process but really allows you to understand and appreciate all the challenges of this amazing industry.
— Mike Dickinson, Red Bank Coffee Roasters
